This would be a nice to have feature.

Seems to me this is more than a "nice to have" feature. Otherwise what's the difference between the "Enabled" and "Visible" properties? Also, I can't seem to get the programmatic setting of .Enabled to true to do anything.

Anyway, if you don't mind recompiling the Toolkit yourself, there is a solution here:http://forums.asp.net/p/1074319/1723688.aspx#1723688

I agree - I would rate this higher than "nice to have". Hiding a tab is different from disabling a tab. Disabling is usefulto indicate to the user that the tab is potentially available ... but is not applicable at this moment.

I would recommend increasing the impact of this bug!

I have a TabContainer with 3 TabPanels in a FormView's EditItemTemplate.

I am trying to disable the 1st & 3rd TabPanel, while leaving the 2nd TabPanel enabled. (my client's prefferred scenario)

What happens is the 1st TabPanel is disabled (good); the 2nd TabPanel is visible & enabled (good); the 3rd TabPanel is hidden! (bad!!!)

If I try to disable the 2nd & 3rd TabPanels, leaving the 1st visible, then the 2nd & 3rd TabPanels (the disabled ones) dissappear...

If I try to disable the 1st & 2nd TabPanels, leaving the 3rd visible, then the 2nd TabPanels (the 2nd disabled one) dissappear...

Thanks
Jay

Yes... I would elevate this... ran into this today and I'm really struggling with a workaround.

djhawley wrote Oct 31, 2007 at 1:32 PM

why is this still a) low impact b) not fixed

spafa9 wrote Nov 15, 2007 at 2:24 PM

I agree the enable property is not a nice to have. I also need to be able to enable/disable the tab and not hide the tabs. Thanks!

jigsdhamecha wrote Nov 16, 2007 at 5:21 AM

I have faced the same problem when I disabled the tab - it becomes invisible and though i tried to explicity set visibility property to true - it remained disabeld - this issue needs to be fixed
Thanks

This path fixes the bug error referred: the Enable property when set to "false" do not makes disappear the TabPanel.
It stays disabled as expected.

I cannot understand this bug continuing to have low impact status.
The issue has been around for nearly 12 months(?)

Whilst there is a workaround it involves amending the .js file for very release of the toolkit.
I can't understand why the workaround hasn't been incorporated so that this matter can be closed completely.

Fix still not in latest release... this isn't going to happen is it?!

How would I use this patch to resolve my problem.

Where should I copy the attached js code?

My arse!
Just ran in to this now with version 7.0725

While there may not be a visual representation of a disabled tabpanel, hiding it is retarded.
It's insane that you would want to hide a disabled tab.
Visible is for visible, disabled is for disabled;

I have generic, recursive code that runs through controls and disables them - I have to add an exception for these panels so they dont get disabled but their content does.
